We hope that you are learning a lot with the Mac Master Series. To be honest though we just wanted to let you all know that your Mac can be used as a tutor. In the menus for pretty much all apps there is a section for help. Yes that is true and it is very helpful.
In this lesson John will go over where to find this help and how to use it. Of course you always have (Ask a coach) but if your ever in a spot and want a good place to start looking for help go to the built in help and you may find what your looking for.
There will be times when you will need to copy or move items from a folder that are not after each other. For instance you may just want to copy or move the first fifth and eighth items in a folder of say twenty. This lesson will show you how to do that.
John will also go over physically dragging and dropping an item. One way to explain this is say you want to move an email account box in mail. This will show you how to drag and drop items.Continue reading
JThere are several settings you can adjust to have VoiceOver function best for you. This would be for things like speech, braille, etc. to make your time using VoiceOver more productive and beneficial.
There are 3 lessons in the Sierra entry. First you will find the El Capitan versions(2 lessons) for those who are still running that operating system.
In this section we will go through all of the options, which will include all checkboxes, popups, and all other controls. Each item’s function will be explained, and recommendations, if any will be made as to how to set an item, or what choice to select in a Popup.
In this module you will learn how to discover new apps for your Mac. You will learn how to search for a particular app, and how to download whatever apps you desire. Updating apps will also be covered.
In this module you will learn how to use the Calculator application that comes installed on your Mac computer. You will learn how to do basic calculations, how to save to the memory, and how to calculate conversions.
In this module you will learn how to add a contact, and edit the contact. You will be able to create contact groups, add edit fields for additional information to a contact, and learn how to delete a contact from a group or from your contacts list.
In this module you will learn how to set up your mail account, or accounts. You will learn how to compose new emails, send and reply, and delete emails you no longer want or need. Also included will be attachments, how to open them, and add an attachment to an email.
In this section you will learn about the Favorites Bar, and how to create message rules to sort your emails in the way you want. You’ll learn how to create a mailbox, and how to move a message from one mailbox to another.
In this module you will learn how to go to a specific web page, and the various ways to navigate in web pages. You will learn how to bookmark websites you frequent, and how to share websites or even specific web pages on Twitter, Facebook, and through iMessaging and email. You will be able to copy a web page link to paste in any other text area on your computer. You will be taught how to perform a search, and how to find the results.
Back To My Mac is a feature that allows you to access any Mac you need, no matter where you are, as long as both are running on the same internet connection. With Back To My Mac, you can access your Mac’s hard drive and swap files from any internet connected Mac running OS X Lion 10.7.5, or later.
In this module, Continuity will be continued with the discussion of how it is used to send and receive SMS messages on your Mac. Also included will be how to use your iPhone as an Instant Hotspot for your Mac when Wi-Fi and the Internet are unavailable.
In this module you will find out how to purchase books from the iBooks store. You will learn how to find a book on your bookshelf, and how to read that book from beginning to end, as well as the previous or next page.
In this module you will learn about the keyboard and quick nav commanders, what they are, how to set them up, and how, like the trackpad and NumPad commanders, they can make tasks on the Mac much easier and faster to accomplish.
In this module you will learn how to select text, character by character, word by word, and line by line. You will be taught how to select all text, whether in a word processing app such as TextEdit or pages, or in a web browser such as the default browser on the Mac, Safari. You will learn how to cut the text, and how to copy it and paste it into another place on the computer.
In this module you will learn about iCloud Drive, what it is, how to enable it on your Mac, and how to access it from the Finder. You will learn how to place files into it, to be viewed on any of your iOS devices or, of course, on your Mac.

You will be taken through the steps to reformat the disk so that it can be read and written with only Mac files and folders, or with either PC and/or Mac content.
In this module you will learn how to bookmark your favorite websites, as well as any websites or web pages you will want to find easily in the future without having to type in the URL, or perform another Google search to locate what you want to view.
In this module you will learn how to save your TextEdit documents in formats in addition to Plain Text and RTF, which you may need to do from time to time, or perhaps more often, if you are sending that document to others who do not have Mac computers, but have PCs instead.
In this module you will learn how to set parental controls for a user account, most likely each of your children’s accounts. You will learn what the different parental controls are, and what you can do in each of the five parental control tabs.
In this module you will learn what Apple Music is, and how to subscribe to it and use it in iTunes on your Mac computer. Specific focus will be on the For You radio button, as the place to begin after you have subscribed.
In this module you will learn how to explore Apple Music, including new content, and how to find the artists, albums, songs, playlists, and more that you want to play, add to a playlist, share, and a host of other possibilities you can do.
In this module you will learn what the Terminal application is, and the tasks that you can perform on your Mac from within Terminal that will make performing these tasks easier and faster to accomplish.
